Recent World Disasters

• Tornado watch for parts of Arkansas, Texas and Louisiana
  -Possible tornado threat continues from Texas east to Louisiana and as far north as Missouri
  -Large hailstorm and strong winds forecast in parts of Louisiana and Mississippi
  -Yesterday floods flooded roads in Louisiana. Following National Weather Service, heavy rainfall expected in this region today too.
  -Rain and thunderstorms are also possible in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and western Tennessee

• M 4.3 moderate sea quake in Aleutians Islands, Alaska (@ 22 km depth) with epicenter located 213 km SSE of Atka. Just a weak shaking will have felt in coastal area.

• M 4.1 moderate shallow earthquake in Oaxaca Mexico (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located 22 km SW Huazolotitlán. Weak shaking will have felt by the people of Pinotepa nacional too. It is the aftershocks of earlier M 7.4 extremely dangerous Guerrero – Oaxaca (Mexico) earthquake

  M 5.2 strong shallow earthquake in Oaxaca, Mexico (@ 12 km depth) with epicenter located 29 km SSE from Ometepec. Moderate shaking will have felt by the people of Ometepec (Guerrero)  and Pinotepa Nacional (Oaxaca), Mexico.

• M 4.4 moderate earthquake in Crete, Greece (@ 21 km depth) with epicenter located 83 km ENE from Iraklion. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of  Sitía, Áyios nikólaos and Iráklion

• M 5.2 moderate earthquake in Kepulauan Sangihe, Indonesia (@ 92 km depth) with epicenter located 239 km NNE of Manado. Weak shaking will have felt by the people of Tondano and Bitung

• Kamchatka/Sheveluch recent volcanic activity
  -Activity at Sheveluch volcano has increased with almost daily ash eruptions
  -It is one of Kamchatka's largest and most active volcanoes

Recent Flood Update

• Flooding in Bicol Region and Western Visayas of Philippines
  -Heavy rainfall and flooding is expected across Bicol and Visayas region due to low pressure area (LPA)
  -As of 2 p.m. Wednesday, the low pressure area was 220 kilometers southeast of Puerto Princesa

  Following The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), there is little chance that the low pressure area (LPA) in Palawan would develop into a cyclone.

  -North-easterly wind brought dust/sand from Rajasthan to Mumbai and Dahanu
  -Dust storm also reported in Jaipur
  -The visibility dropped to 1,200 metre at city airports in Mumbai
  -Dust haze is expected to disperse by afternoon.
