  • Massive flooding in Seti river of Kaski, Nepal (Report prepared with the help of Bivek Bhattarai from Nepal)
    -Eight people reported to be killed after major avalanche in Annapurna range triggered a massive flood in Seti River.
    -More than 50 people are reported to be missing including three Russian tourists.
    -Worst affected is Kharapani village where a number of people swept away along with their houses and livestock.
    -Combination of an avalanche and landslide caused flooding in Seti river.
    -Annapurna is a section of the Himalayas in north-central Nepal which is also the world's most dangerous mountains to climb. It is one of the world's 14 highest peaks.

    -Death toll has risen to 14.
    -Two buses carrying students for a picnic at Khaarapani have also been swept away by the flood. Two students are also missing in the flood.

    -Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and the Nepal Police personnel are involved in rescue works at different places.
    -There is rumor of outburst of glacial lake.

    -Death toll has risen to eight. More bodies were found at the bank of Seti River.
    -At least two dozen people are still missing.
    -Most of the victims are reported to be shopkeepers in Kharapani. People of Machhapuchre are also reported to affected.
    -Several people are reported to be injured. The injured people are taken to Manipal hospital in Pokhara.
    -Prime minister Baburam Bhattarai has ordered the authorities to conduct the rescue operation without any delay.
    -An army helicopter is working for rescue operation.
    -Below is video by Nepalnews about the avalanche in Annapurna mountain range which triggered massive flood in Seti River.

  • M 4.3 light very shallow earthquake in Northern California (@ 3 km depth) today with epicenter located 4 km E from The Geysers. People of Cobb will have felt light shaking of MMI IV. Weak shaking will have felt in Middletown, Hidden Valley Lake, Kelseyville, Lower Lake, Clearlake, Santa Rosa, Concord, Vallejo, Antioch and Fairfield city of California.

    -8 people died in a snow storm near Mount Korenge in central Nagano prefecture of Japan.
  • Drought in Guangxi, Guizhou, China
    -Water shortage has affected 680,000 people in Guangxi and Guizhou province of China.
    -25 counties in the province of China are suffering from moderate or severe levels of drought.
    -No precipitation is expected in both Guangxi and Guizhou for the comong week.
  • Weekend 'supermoon' will not cause natural disasters: museum
    Sunday's full moon, which will appear larger than normal due to its closeness to Earth, will not pose any threat, the Taipei Astronomical Museum said Saturday amid speculations that the "supermoon" may cause natural disasters.
