  • Landslides in Xingang, China
    -Two killed when landslide rocked a village in Xingang (Shanxii), China.
    -Two houses reported to be destroyed completely.
    -The worst landslide in history occurred in Kansu, China in 1920 which killed more than 180,000 people and destroyed over 100 cities.
    -Landslides are among the common natural disasters in China
  • Flooding in Klang, Malaysia
    -Heavy rain and high tide caused flash flood in Klang port
    -Dozens of schools remain closed due to flooding
    -Within 90 minutes 70mm of rain was recorded
    -Officials in Malaysia denied that the floods had been caused by a delay in opening the tidal gates
    -Floods are regular natural disasters in Malaysia which happen nearly every year during the monsoon season.

  • M 5.7 strong harmless sea quake in New Ireland Region, Papua New Guinea (@ 98 km depth) with epicenter located 51 km E of Taron. About 266,000 people will have felt light shaking of MMI IV. People of Kokopo and Namatanai will have experienced light shaking of MMI IV.

  • M 4.5 moderate deep earthquake in Southern Italy (@ 275 km depth) with epicenter located 21 km W Scalea. Weak shaking will have felt as far as Salerno.

  • M 5.8 strong earthquake in Honshu, Japan (@ 50 km depth) with epicenter located just 12 km NE of Iwaki. About 330,000 people will have felt moderate shaking of MMI V. People of Iwaki will have felt moderate shaking of MMI V. People of Namie, Kitaibaraki, Ishikawa, Takahagi, Sukagawa, Fukushima, Mito, Utsunomiya, Sendai and Yamagata will have experienced light shaking of MMI IV. Weak shaking will have felt as far as Capital Tokyo.
    Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) mentions M 5.9 @ 50 km depth in Fukushima-ken Oki region. Max. JMA intensity 5 (Strong) in Naraha-machi Kitada and Tomioka-machi Moto-oka.

  • M 4.9 moderate earthquake in Antofagasta, Chile (@ 87 km depth) with epicenter located 76 km SSW of Calama. Light to weak shaking will have experienced across Calama.

  • M 3.5 weak very shallow earthquake in Northern California (@ 2 km depth) with epicenter located just 2 km NE from The Geysers. Weak shaking will have felt by the people of Cobb, Hidden Valley Lake and Middletown.

Flooding List
  • Flooding continues in Fiji
    -Today, the government of Fiji issued an "urgent" message to people living near the Rewa River to move to high ground. Rewa River has burst its banks in a number of areas.
    -Tropical cyclone Alert is issued in Fiji. Following the Nadi Weather Office, a tropical depression was located about 1,200 kilometres West North West of Nadi. It is expected to become a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours. Click for detail update on Fiji floods

  • Tropical storm Pakhar
    -Pakhar is currently a Tropical storm and is forecast to weaken as just a Tropical depression by today afternoon.
    -It may cause strong winds and rough seas over South China Sea (water off the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Northern Sarawak).
    -The maximum Storm surge height is  0.5m in Binh Sum, Vietnam.
