Recent Natural Disasters
  • Landslide in Shennongjia, Hubei, China
    -More than 300 tourist evacuated after a landslide hit a forest resort in Shennongjia.
    -Continuous rainfall caused landslide in this area. Two days ago, a landslide hit the same section of the highway which runs from Inner Mongolia's capital Hohhot to Beihai city in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
    Update
    -More than 1,000 tourists being evacuated this morning.
    -Most of the tourist are taking shelter in Shennongjia forestry resort.
    -No causalities reported so far.

  • M 3.9 weak shallow earthquake in Ontario, Canada (@ 15 km depth) with epicenter located 82 km NNW of Moosonee. Just a weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Moose Factory.

  • Flooding in Billing, United Kingdom
    -People living along River Nene are on high alert. Flood alert extended to Wellingborough, joining Cogenhoe, Billing and Doddington.
    -Flood already hit Billing Aquadrome and Cogenhoe Caravan Park.
    Update
    -Residents of Billing Aquadrome are alowed to return home.
    -The Cogenhoe Mill site remains closed.
    -More rainfall is forecast tonight.

  • Thunderstorm in Balwatoli, Kishanganj, India
    -Six killed and more than 50 injured after thunderstorms hit Balwatoli in Bihar’s Kishanganj district, India.
    -Rs 1.5 lakh will be paid to the victims and Rs 10,000 will be given to those whose houses have been damaged.
  • Wildfire in Toquerville, Utah
    -Two firefighters reported to be injured.
    -About 500 acres burned. About 30% contained.
