  • Tropical Cyclone Lua
    -RED ALERT for coastal communities from Bidyadanga to Port Hedland, including South Hedland, Pardoo, Sandfire, Warralong, Yandeyarra and adjacent pastoral and mining leases
    -Flight cancelled and main highway between Broome and Port Hedland closed
    -Cyclone Lua is expected to make landfall on the Pilbara coast early on Saturday afternoon
    -Following the Bureau of Meteorology, Lua is the strongest cyclone to hit Australia this year and the strongest since Cyclone Yasi hit Queensland last year
    -Destructive winds of 150km/h forecast between Port Hedland and Bidyadanga

      Update
      A RED ALERT for people in inland areas of the Pilbara including Nullagine, Woodie Woodie, Nifty, Moly Mines, Jigalong, Newman and all other adjacent mining and pastoral leases.
      A BLUE ALERT is current for people in coastal communities Wiluna, Meekatharra and all adjacent communiites, pastoral stations and mining leases.

      Update

      Following, the Fire and Emergency Services Authority of Western Australia, based on the current track of Severe Tropical Cyclone Lua, heavy rainfall is forecast for the upper reaches of the Gascoyne River catchment overnight and into Sunday. This rainfall is expected to cause significant stream rises and possible local flooding in the upper reaches of the Gascoyne River on Sunday

      -A relocation centre set up for people in Port and South Hedland at J.D Hardie Centre, Cottier Drive, South Hedland
      -People around the Gascoyne River region are warned for possible flooding tomorrow. Officials warns

  • M 4.3 moderate shallow earthquake in South Island of New Zealand (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located 10 km E Te puru-thornton bay. Weak shaking will have felt by the people of Christchurch, New Zealand

  • M 4.4  moderate shallow earthquake in Luzon, Philippines (@ 35 km depth) with epicenter located 17 km S Claveria. The populated area laoag is 65 km far where weak shaking will have experienced

  • M 4.3 moderate Sea quake in Kuril Island (@ 43 km depth) with epicenter located 125 km SSW of Severo-Kuril'sk (Kuril Islands, Russia). It will have just faintly felt
