Recent World Disasters

• Landslide and flooding in Peru
  -Following the national emergency management office, three people are missing due to landslide in a remote village in the southern Peruvian region of Arequipa
  -Due to flooding of the river Huaycoloro, 47 houses collapsed, 8 injured and one child is reported to be missing so far
  -Hailstorm reported in districts of Tiabaya Socabaya, Hunter, Chacarato, and Cerro Colorado
  -Three days ago, heavy rains in the upper Caravelí caused landslide killing three people and left 150 families homeless in the town of Chaparral

• M 4.9 moderate earthquake in Maule, Chile (@ 65 km depth) with epicenter located 30 km W of Curico. Weak shaking will have felt as far as Santiago, Metropolitana region, Chile

• M 5.6 strong deep sea quake in Kuril Islands (@ 132 km depth) with epicenter located 15 km W of Kuril'sk. People of Otrada will have felt just weak shaking of MMI III

• M 4.0 moderate shallow earthquake in Pakistan (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located 35 km NE Swabi. Weak shaking will have felt as far as Mingaora

• M 4.7 moderate earthquake near the Coast of Central Peru (@ 61 km depth) with epicenter located 39 km SE from Ica. Light shaking of MMI Iv will have felt in Ica

• M 5.4 moderate earthquake in North Western Kashmir (@ 49 km depth) with epicenter located 141 km NW of Gilgit. Luckily the populated area Mingaora is 239 km far from epicenter. However weak shaking will have felt as far as Peshawar. Click for detail report on this earthquake

• M 4.7 moderate shallow earthquake in Southern Iran (@ 20 km depth) with epicenter located 65 km NW Bandar-e lengeh. Weak shaking will have felt as far as Dubai

• M 4.1 deep moderate earthquake in Salta, Argentina (@ 189 km deep) with epicenter located 60 km (37 miles) WNW of San Antonio de los Cobres. It will have faintly felt around epicenter

Recent Flood Update

• Flooding in Australia (Daily update under "Natural Disasters in Australia")
  -Army troops have moved from Nathalia to Barmah to isolate the properties at the risk of flooding
  -According to government officials in Australia, evacuation order for Nathalia may be lifted on Wednesday afternoon
  -Now, flows from the Murray, Murrumbidgee and Darling Rivers are not expected to cause any flooding or access problems to towns along the Murray River. River heights at other forecast locations along the Murray River, such as Swan Hill, Robinvale, Echuca, Euston, and Wentworth, are expected to remain below their respective minor flood levels based upon current river flow projections.
  -Recently 1000 residents in Darlington Point were told to evacuate as water levels on the Murrumbidgee River rose
  Update
  Russell River: Minor flood levels possible during Monday morning at Clyde Road. At 7:30am Monday morning river levels were about 0.2 metres above the Russell River bridge deck

Recent Cyclones

• A Cyclone WATCH has been declared for a developing tropical low for coastal areas from Cape Hotham to Kalumburu including Darwin and the Tiwi Islands by the Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology
  Update
  There is the possibility of a cyclone developing but GALES are not expected in coastal areas within the next 24 hours, however gales could develop later
  

Other Disasters

• 45 people are missing by avalanche in Poshan and Ghadoor of Afghanistan. Rescue teams have so far been unable to reach the disaster-hit areas
• Severe hailstorm reported in Sicily, Italy. Hailstorm destroyed fruits and vegetables on the area of Ionian Sea in the areas of Lentini, Carlentini, Francofonte, Villasmundo and Augusta
