About 214,000 people will have felt very strong shaking of MMI VII. MMI V in Yue-ching, Heng-ch'un and Tainan City and MMI IV in Yun-lin, Pu-li, Hualian and T'ai-chung-shih region. - Storms In Dubai
-People in Dubai seems to be little panicked after UAE’s National Centre for Meterology and Seismology warned motorists against speeding as wind speeds could reach 80 km/hr. Tropical storm range for 1 Minute Maximum Sustained Winds is 63-118 km/hr. <63 is just a tropical depression. To become Hurricane, at least wind speed should be 120 km/hr (just category 1). From the data above, it is clear that there won't be any cyclone generated with such less wind velocity. It is just rumor, Dubai to be hit by a Cyclone.
-There is poor visibility on the roads and high levels of dust in the air due to southerly winds coming from Saudi Arabia.
-Dusty and stormy weather prevails in Dubai currently which will subside by tomorrow evening
-Different schools are reported to closed just of rumor.

ReplyDeleteThey are just rumours regarding the UAE. Yes, they are affected by countries nearby who have earth quakes and feel tremors and indeed have minor earthquakes ( maybe a sign for the near future but I have heard absolutely nothing nor sense anything regarding earthquakes the past few days.
ReplyDeleteI can say the sandstorms have been getting worst for the past few years now-really bad in the Arabian Gulf in general. The sandstorms are terrible right now with sharp gusts of winds sweeping up sand. On the ground it is hazy but I think from the air it would look like a blanket covering us. It is very bad for asthmatics right now.
Rumours at this time of the year go crazy ever since the cyclone Gonu hit Oman and ripped the roads up a couple of years back That was very bad.
Right now sand storm has been crazy, enough to blow through window gaps into homes, enough to make road driving very dangerous-drivers have to hold their vehicle firmly, enough to delay flights because of poor visibility and even enough to stop work at a port.

It’s very sad. Lord hears for our prayer for these people who are victims, died and survives of this tragedy.
ReplyDeleteNice post. Thanks for sharing. I hope that preventative measures can be put in place soon. One thing that can be done which costs nothing is each individual take responsibility for their garbage and put it where it belongs instead of throwing it all over the streets, rivers, and everywhere else.
