    ”M_7.1_Earthquake_Lae_Papua_New_Guinea”
  • M 7.1 very strong earthquake in Lae, Papua New Guinea. Strong earthquakes are relatively common in Papua New Guinea. But today's quake is first over magnitude 7 since 2005
  • Fire Killed 6 people in Marseille  city of France.
    -Six people died and 15 were overcome by smoke when fire broke out overnight in a care home for the elderly in the southern French city of Marseille
    -Three of those suffering from smoke inhalation are in serious condition
  • Hailstorm in Nkhata Bay district of Malawi injured 11 people. -The injured people are currently receiving treatment at Nkhata Bay District Hospital and Chilambwe Health Center
    -Most people in the
    Nkhata area depend on agriculture to feed their families. They are hard hit and worried about future.

  • M 7.1 Very strong earthquake in Eastern New Guinea Region, Papua New Guinea. The great depth (@ 115 km depth) has somewhat reduce its affect but, the great magnitude will definitely cause strong tremor around epicenter.   • M 5.2 moderate earthquake in Gifu-ken Mino-tobu region, Eastern Honshu, Japan .USGS gives data as M 4.9 @ 50.6 km depth. Since JMA is more reliable (regarding Japan, Gifu  earthquake) so we are following it. MAx. JMA intensity is 4. It is enough to be well felt around epicenter. People of Tajimi (pop 107,818) and Mizunami (pop 42,617) will experience strong jolt. These are the places within 10 km radius. It will felt as light to weak in Vast area.

  • M 3.5 weak earthquake in  Western Montana (@ 12.2 km depth). The epicenter is 22 far from Clinton, Montana. About 2,000 people will experience a weak shaking of MMI III. It will be felt by the people of Missoula, Butte, Anaconda, Orchard Homes, Hamilton, Lolo Deer Lodge, East Missoula, Stevensville, Seeley Lake, Lincoln region of Montana. Did You Feel It!!   • M 4.5 earthquake in Fiordland region of New ZeaLand. The epicenter of this earthquake is 43.22 km S of Manapouri, Woodville County (@ 90 km depth). Neither USGS nor EMSC mentions this earthquake. Recent Volcanic Eruptions 


  • Volcanic activity in Kolumbus submarine volcano (Santorini, Greece)
    -At 19h22 GMT (21h22 local time), a 3.2 earthquake occurred following the largest event in recent months. At the end of November too, Seismic activity beneath Santorini volcano was slightly above normal level. Santorini's last eruption was in 1950
    -No more news flashed about the current activity. May be because of great tourist place. Santorini was named “Best World’s Island” in 2011 by BBC Travel

  • Thailand Flood- Death Toll has risen to 708
    Talking about the Southern Part, 10 people are confirmed dead
    (one in Nakhon Si Thammarat, two each in Phatthalung, Songkhla and Yala, and three in Narathiwat).

  • Flash flood in Guernsey, Europe-It has caused travel disruption and some structural damage.The worst of the weather is in Jersey
  • Flood in Mayo region (Yukon Territor), Canada
    -Emergency officials in Yukon have reactivated some emergency flood diversion ditches near Mayo to prevent flooding in the community
    -About $200,000 has been spent on flood prevention work so far this year
  • Deadly Flash flood Predicted in New Zealand
    - Metservice has issued severe weather warnings for many areas in the North and South Islands, as a front moves in from the Tasman Sea
    -Large amounts of rain are likely today and early tomorrow for Westland and Buller, Marlborough, and for Nelson where as much as 400mm of rain may fall about the northwest ranges
    UPDATE

    -A state of emergency has been declared in the Nelson-Tasman region, New zealand
    -Civil Defence is advising people to keep a watch on water levels and to be prepared to evacuate if necessary today night
    -The Maitai River in Nelson has overflowed. Several roads in the region are closed
    -People are advised to stay at home and away from floodwaters
    -Waters are expected to peak about 2am on Thursday
  • Flash flood in Bulawayo city of Zimbabwe 
    -Heavy rain and strong wind cause destruction in Lobengula West, Gwabalanda and Nkulumane suburbs
    -The wind was so strong that it uprooted trees and destroyed a gate in Gwabalanda
