Recent Natural Disasters
  • Landslides in Western Nepal
    -Landslide and flooding destroyed four houses in Shaligram VDC-9 in Parbat district of western Nepal.
    -No causalities reported. Affected people are taking shelter at Setibeni Bazaar.
    -Another mudlside incident reported in Kaligandaki Highway and the Shaligram-Pidikhola rural road. Following local officials, 36 houses at Shaligram and 10 houses at Pidikhola are at risk of landslides.
    -At least 12 houses were destroyed due to landslide in Khalanga yesterday.
    -Landslides are one of the most common natural hazards in Nepal.
  • Landslides in Chamoli, India
    -One killed and 15 other injured in a landslide in Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway in Chamoli district of India.
    -Heavy rainfall also reported across Uttar Pradesh including Lucknow, Barabanki, Unnao and Faizabad.

  • M 5.4 moderate earthquake in Mindanao, Philippines (@ 62 km depth) with epicenter located 129 km ESE of Sarangani. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Caburan, Glan, Malapatan, Dadiangas and Davao.

  • M 2.8 weak shallow earthquake in Central California (@ 3 km depth) with epicenter located 11 km NNW from Hollister. Just a weak shaking will have felt by the people of San Juan Bautista, Gilroy and San Jose City Hall.

    -One small boy died in Chisago County. The boy drowned at Round Lake.
    -Severe thunderstorm watch issued for St. Louis, Douglas, Bayfield, Lake, Cook, Carlton, Itasca, Koochiching, Iron, Ashland and Price.
  • Flooding in Michigan, United States
    -Heavy rainfall along with thunderstorm and flooding reported in Michigan.
    -Still more than 300,000 homes and businesses across Michigan are without power since the heavy storm hit the area some days ago.
  • Flooding in Cambridgeshire, England
    -Heavy rainfall and flooding predicted in Cambridgeshire by the Met Office.
    -About 60 to 70 mm of rain is expected today and early tomorrow in Cambridgeshire.

  • Tropical Depression Four-E
    -As of 01:00 UTC, TD Four-E was located 715 km SSW of Manzanillo, Mexico.
    -The depression is expected to become a tropical storm early today.

  • Wildfire in Del City, Oklahoma
    -Several families in in Del City evacuated.
    -Firefighters immediately extinguish the fire.
    -Minor damage reported.
  • Wildfire in Lonoke, Arkansas
    -Fire has burned about 40 acres and is north of Cabot.
    -Three houses, along with several vehicles reported to be destroyed.
  • Wildfire in Shenandoah National Park, Virginia
    -Wildfire in Shenandoah National Park has burned 2,163 acres.
    -More than 55 % of a wildfire in Shenandoah National Park is contained.
