  • Violent storms in United States
    A damaged car in Columbus Grove, Ohio; Click for more storm photos
    -At least 13 people killed by violent storm and heat in New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Tennessee, Ohio and Kentucky of United States. More than 3 million people are left without power.
    -Emergencies declared in Maryland, West Virginia, Ohio, the District of Columbia and Virginia.
    -Many rail services were suspended including rail services from Washington to Philadelphia.

    Tremors were felt across Mexico, California and Arizona. Weak shaking was felt in Lakeside and El Centro of California, Yuma and Somerton of Arizona.

  • M 4.7 moderate deep earthquake in Antofagasta, Chile (@ 102 km depth) with epicenter located 58 km N of San Pedro de Atacama. Just a weak shaking will have felt by the people of Calama and Tocopilla.

    M 5.2 moderate earthquake in Atacama, Chile (@ 40 km depth) at 19:39 local time with epicenter located 152 km SSW from Copiapo. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Copiapó, Coquimbo, La Serena and Vallenar.

    -Several people evacuated after smoke and ash spewed from Nevado del Ruiz volcano.
    -Different flights in the cities of Armenia, Manizales and Pereira were suspended.
    -The Colombian volcano Nevado del Ruiz is an active stratovolcano with a history of generating deadly volcanic mudflows (lahars).

  • Flooding in St. Marys River, Georgia
    -Around 45 people evacuated to higher ground.
    -Flood warning continues for Camden County.

    -Violent thunderstorm and hailing reported in Basel, Aargau and zurich.
    -Around 51 people were injured when lightning stroked a Opeinair in the German state of Saxony.
    -Roofs of houses damaged in Jura.
    -No injury reported so far.
  • Wildfire in San Gabriel, California
    -Wildfire burned 96 acres of dry brush in the San Gabriel Mountains northeast of Los Angeles.  California.
    -No damage or injuries reported.
