The epicenter was located 52 km southwest of Candelaria, Zambales. No damage or injury reported so far.

M 6.1 strong earthquake shakes Luzon Philippines today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter located 24 km SW Bolitoc and 29 km SW Santa. It was 22 miles deep.

According to Radyo Inquire, the quake was felt at Intensity 4 in Makati City and Intensity 3 in Quezon City. It was also felt in Manila, Pasay City and Pateros.  In Cavite province, it was felt at intensity 2 in Bacoor and 1 in Tagaytay City.

In Pangasinan, Intensity 4 was felt in the towns of Bolinao and Bugallon, 3 in San Fernando City, La Union; and 2 in Plaridel, Bulacan.

Following officials at Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, earthquake was most possibly caused by movement in the Manila Trench in the South China Sea off northern Zambales province. No Tsunami alert issued.

In 1990, a magnitude-7.7 quake killed nearly 2,000 people in the northern Luzon region

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
