  • Heavy flooding in George Town, Malaysia
    -More than 2,200 tourist affected by heavy rainfall and flooding in Penang, Malaysia [Recent Natural Disasters In Malaysia]
    -The worst-hit areas were Jalan P. Ramlee, Jalan Rawang and Sungai Pinang.
    -The rainwater from Sungai Dondang and Sungai Air Itam flowed into Sungai Pinang, causing the river banks to burst.
    -Minor landslide reported in Tanjung Bunga. Tanjung Bunga is situated in the northern part of Penang Island.
    -It is described as the worst deluge since 2008.
    -The flood has been classified under orange alert.
  • Heavy windstorms in Achham and Dadeldhura, Nepal
    -Two killed and other twenty reported to be injured in a strong windstorms in several parts of Achham and Dadeldhura of Nepal.
    -Windstorm caused huge damage to property in Achham. A large number of houses have lost their roofs.
    -High winds have also blown off the roof of District Administration Office.
    -Telecommunications and vehicular movements also reported to be affected.
  • Sinkhole in Nanning, Guangxi, China
    -More than 800 villagers evacuated after land sank in Guangxi province of China.
    -No damage or injury reported.
    -The sink hole is 1.5 meters (5 feet) deep and 2.5 meters (8 feet) wide.
    -Sinkholes and land cracks are common in China [Recent Natural Disasters In China]. It is because of intense construction and mining activities.

  • M 5.8 strong deep earthquake in Salta, Argentina (Yacuíba @ 529 km depth) with epicenter located 129 km ESE from Tarija, Bolivia. Just a weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Yacuiba, Tartagal, Villamontes, Entre Rios, Tarija, San Ramon de la Nueva Oran, Boyuibe, Villazon, Libertador General San Martin, Camargo and Tilcara.This is second earthquake to hit this region in 2012.     Since 1900, numerous magnitude 8 or greater earthquakes have occurred on the interface between the Nazca and South America plates.

Flooding List
  • Flooding in Union Station, Toronto, Canada
    -Flooding at Union Station closed the section of subway line between Bloor and Osgoode stations.
    -Power outages were also reported across the city.
    -No injuries were reported.

Tropical Cyclone List
  • Typhoon Mawar (Ambo)
    -Typhoon 04w (Mawar) is located approximately 590 nm south-southwest of Kadena AB, Okinawa.
    -Tropical Storm Mawar is expected to bring heavy rain to Taiwan this Sunday.
    -PAGASA expects Ambo (international code name Mawar) to move towards Okinawa, Japan Monday, June 4.
    -Initially a tropical depression, Mawar formed over the western Pacific Ocean on May 31, 2012, and strengthened to a tropical storm the following day. It is first tropical cyclone of 2012 in Philippines. Click for detail report on Typhoon Mawar (Ambo).

  • Wild fires in Uttarakhand, India
    -More than 70 forest fires incident reported across Uttarakhand state of India.
    -Forest officials believes that all the fire is started by cultivators who believe that burning residual crop improves soil quality and allows grass to grow quickly.
    -Almora, Bageshwar, Badrinath, Garhwal, Kedarnath, Rudraprayag and Tehri are affected by forest fire.
  • Wild fire in Heilongjiang, china
    -Forest fire reported in nature reserve in the Greater Hinggan Mountains in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province.
    -Nearly 6,300 people mobilized to extinguish the fire.
    -No casualties have been reported.
  • Tornado warning in Washington
    -Tornado warning issued for the entire Washington metro area until 2 a.m. Saturday.
    -Tornado was reported across Northern Virginia and Maryland yesterday which injured at least two people.
    -According to the Storm Prediction Center, the area has a 15 percent chance of tornadoes
  • Tornado watch issued for Lancaster and Berks counties of England.
