M 4.5 moderate shallow earthquake recorded today in Macedonia with epicenter located 15 km NE Ohrid.

The earthquke tremor was well felt by the people of Belcista, Kicevo, Struga, Ohrid and Capital Skopje. Skopje is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Macedonia with about a third of the total population.

M 4.5 moderate shallow earthquake shakes Fyr of Macedonia this Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

According ot the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was18 km SW Kicevo and 71 km NE Elbasan. It was5 km deep.

Macedonia, officially the Republic of Macedonia, is a country located in the central Balkan peninsula in Southeast Europe.
The Mediterranean region is seismically active due to the northward convergence (4-10 mm/yr) of the African plate with respect to the Eurasian plate along a complex plate boundary.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
