Recent Natural Disasters
  • Tornadoes in north central Kansas
    -One person (from Russell) injured when several tornadoes touched down in north central Kansas.
    Russell: One person injured. Several houses destroyed.
    Rush: Five tornadoes reported with severe damage in LaCrosse. However no injury reported.
  • Tornado in North Port, State of Florida, USA
    -About 17 houses reported to be damaged by tornado in North Port.
    -A tornado with winds of 80 mph, about 150 yards wide, touched down in Holiday Park.
    -Roofs of several houses in Holiday Park damaged.
    -According to the National Weather Service in Ruskin, near Tampa, damage from this North Port tornado is estimated at $50,000.

  • M 6.0 strong harmless sea quake in Bonin Isands, Japan region (@ 473 km depth) with epicenter located 201 km W of Chichi-shima. It is same area around the epicenter of 2010 Bonin Islands earthquake. 
  • M 3.4 weak shallow earthquake in Island of Hawaii, Hawaii (@ 7 km depth) with epicenter located 14 km W from Pahala. Weak shaking  of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Captain Cook, Holualoa, Waikoloa, Kailua Kona, Kealakekua, Naalehu, Hawaiian Ocean View and Hilo.

  • M 4.6 moderate shallow earthquake in Crete, Greece (@ 31 km depth) with epicenter located  44 km SW Pómbia. People of Réthimnon, Chania and Iráklion felt a weak shaking of MMI II-III.

  • M 3.9 light earthquake in Northern Italy (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located just 3 km N San felice sul panaro. Weak shaking will have felt by the people of Modena and Cento.

  • M 4.4 light earthquake in Hindu Kush region, Afghanistan (@ 117 km depth) with epicenter located  60 km S Jurm. Weak shaking will have felt by the people of Chitral (Pakistan) and Faizabad (Afghanistan).

    -Orange Alert due to the high range of activity in Fuego.
    -Ash fall reported on the Sangre de Cristo and San Pedro Yepocapa, Chimaltenango.

Flooding List
  • 16 districts at high risk of flooding across Punjab
    16 districts are at high risk of flooding in Punjab, said Punjab Flood Emergency Manager (Operations) Dr Islam Zafar at a workshop on ‘Provincial Health Preparedness and Response Mechanism for 2012 Monsoon/Floods.

  • Hurricane Bud
    -RED ALERT For The South Coast Of Jalisco.
    -69 shelters made in 11 municipalities in North and South Coastal region of the state.

  • Tropical Storm Beryl
    -TS Beryl is located 315 km ESE of Cape Fear North Carolina and 460 km E of Charleston South Carolina.
    -A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Volusia/Brevard County line Florida to Edisto Beach and Edisto Beach to South Santee River, South Carolina.
    -Tropical storm conditions are expected to reach the coast within the warning area from northeast Florida to South Carolina on Sunday.
    -Beryl is expected to produce total rain accumulations of 2 to 4 inches along the southeastern coast of the United States from northeastern Florida through southeastern North Carolina.
  • Typhoon Sanvu
    -Typhoon 03w (Sanvu) is located approximately 155 nm south-southwest of chichi jima, Japan.
    -Islands of Iwo To and Chichi Jima being affected. Iwo To and Chichi Jima will experience rough surf, showers, thunderstorms and gusty winds today too(May 26).

  • Landslide alerts in Sri Lanka
    -Following heavy rainfall, Sri Lanka has issued landslide alerts to six districts. Kegalle, Ratnapura, Nuwara Eliya, Kalutara, Galle and Matara are the districts that should cautioned over earth slips.
  • Tornado warning for Montreal area of Canada
    -Environment Canada issued a tornado warning in Montreal area.
    -Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, Varennes, Chateauguay and La Prairie are at high risk.
