Recent Natural Disasters
  • Landslide in Balikpapan, Indonesia
    -Four killed and three other injured in a landslide in Balikpapan town of East Kalimantan province of Indonesia.
    -Injured people are being treated in Balikpapan’s Kanudjoso Djatiwibowo Hospital.
    -Another landslide occurred at KM 5 on the Balikpapan-Samarinda route, but without any injuries.
    -Flooding also reported in Timur village in Gunung Samarinda subdistrict, Jl. M.T. Haryono, Simpang 5 Rapak, Gunung Sari, Sepinggan, Balikpapan Baru, Jl. A. Yani, Gunung Guntur, Gunung Pasir, Batakan and Damai subdistrict.
    -Airplane flights from Balikpapan’s Sepinggan Airport was disrupted.
    -Heavy rainfall caused flooding and landslide in this area.
    -Floods and landslide are common and frequent natural disasters in Indonesia during heavy rains.

Flooding List
  • Flooding in Prince William County, USA
    -Strong storms and heavy rainfall caused flooding in Prince William County of Virginia, USA.
    -Several roads as Little River Road  (Loudoun County Line), Logmill Road (Ingram Drive), Valley View Drive (between Crockett Road and Parkgate Drive), Brentsville Road (Bradley Forest Road), Purcell Road (between Dumfries Road and Hoadly Road), Lucasville Road  (Hidden Spring Drive), Bristow Road (Wright Lane), and Birmingham Drive near Signal Hill Elementary School was closed because of flooding.
    -Heavy rainfall plus flooding also created sinkholes and raised the flooding threat level at the Lake Jackson dam.
    -The National Weather Service issued a flood warning for Prince William County through 4:45 a.m. Thursday.
