Recent Natural Disasters
Hai_phong_Vietnam_landslide_photo_recent_natural_disasters
  • Landslide in Hai Phong, Vietnam
    -Nine people killed because of sudden landslide in a quarry at Lai Xuan Commune, Thuy Nguyen District in northern Hai Phong City of Vietnam.
    -They were killed in two different landslide incidents in the interval of six hours.
    -The quarry operations produce limestone for cement factories and construction. All the fatalities were workers.
    -Heavy rainfall caused landslide in that area.
    -One month ago, a landslide at a strip coal mine's dump in Vietnam killed one people.

  • M 4.5 moderate aftershocks in Northern Italy (@ 9 km depth) with epicenter located 34 km N of Bologna Earlier M  5.9 Bologna-Verona Italy Earthquake killed 7 people three days ago.

  • M 6.1 strong sea quake in Hokkaido, Japan (@ 41 km depth) with epicenter located 69 km E Mutsu. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Misawa, Hachinohe, Shizunai, Hakodate, Aomori and Hirosaki. Weak shaing will have expeienced by the people of Sapporo, Morioka, Akita and Kushiro. No tsunami warning issued. No damage or injury reported.

    -Minor damage reported to schools in Noheji .
    -damage in museum of Noheji.
    -Train service temporarily closed after the quake.
  • M 3.3 light shallow earthquake in Bulgaria (@ 5 km depth) today with epicenter located 4 km E Batanovci. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Radomir and Sofia. It is the aftershocks of yesterday very strong Pernik-Sofia, Bulgaria quake.

  • M 4.6 moderate deep earthquake in Ecuador (@ 161 km depth) with epicenter located  46 km SE Puyo. Weak shaking will have felt as far as Riobamba and Quito.

  • M 4.7 moderate earthquake in Southern Alaska (@ 69 km depth) with epicenter located 66 km SW from Nanwalek. Light shaking will have felt by the people of Port Graham and Seldovia. Weak shaking will have felt as far as Homer and Anchorage.
    Homer is a city located in Kenai Peninsula Borough and Anchorage, 64th-largest city in the United States, is a unified home rule municipality in the southcentral part.

  • M 4.3 light shallow earthquake in Tanzania (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located 30 km NE Izazi. Weak shaking will have felt by the people of Dodoma.

    -Heavy rains from several hours caused flooding in Ha Noi City of Vietnam..
    -Linh Nam, Ngoc Hoi, Nguyen Tuan Streets were flooded causing traffic jams.
    -Heavy rainfall for three to four days more may cause flooding in Hong River system.

    -Bud is located 675 km SSW of Manzanillo Mexico.

    -Tropical Storm (TS) 03w (Sanvu) is located approximately 475 nm south of iwo to, Japan.
