Recent Natural Disasters
  • Very strong earthquake near Sofia, Bulgaria
    -M 5.8 very strong earthquake shakes Sofia, Bulgaria at local time 03:00 AM. The quake's epicenter was just 24 km (14 miles) W of Sofia.
    -The church "St. Ivan Rilski" in the center of Pernik was cracked by the earthquake.
    -Several houses reported to be collapsed in street of Byala Slatina.
    -The roof of the Mining Department also reported to be damaged.
    -Earthquake tremor was felt in parts of Serbia and Montenegro, Greece, Turkey, Macedonia too.
    -According to Dikov, chief architect of Sofia, buildings in Sofia are so designed that must withstand an earthquake of magnitude 7.4 to 7.5 on the Richter scale.

  • Deadly rainstorm in Nancy, Eastern France
    -One killed and three other injured in a deadly rainstorm in eastern France. Today morning, a dead body of elderly woman was found in the basement of her home.
    -Floodwater reached two metres (6.6ft) in some areas.
    -Several houses reported to be closed.
    -The mayor of Nancy is planning to declare the storm a natural catastrophe.

  • M 2.9 weak very shallow earthquake in Hawaii Islands (@ 5 km depth) with epicenter located 9 km WSW from Volcano. Just a weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt around epicenter.

  • M 3.8 light shallow earthquake in Northern Italy (@ 5 km depth) with epicenter located 30 km W Ferrara. It is the aftershocks of earlier M 5.9 Bologna-Verona Italy Earthquake.

  • M 5.1 moderate earthquake in Molucca Sea (@ 69 km depth) with epicenter located 189 km NNW of Ternate. Just a weak shaking will have felt in Ternate.

Flooding List
  • Flooding in Buncombe, North Carolina
    -Minor flooding reported in Buncombe. Mudslide also reported in northern part of the county.
    -About 30 people evacuated. However no damage or injury reported.
    -Following The National Weather Service, more heavy rain is possible in Buncombe County Tuesday afternoon and evening.
  • Thailand's economy expands on post-flood recovery
    Thailand's economy expanded in the first quarter as factories resumed production and domestic consumption revived after last year's floods.

Tropical Cyclone List
  • Tropical storm Two-E
    -Currently Two-E is just a tropical depression but t is expected to become a tropical storm late today (Tuesday) and a a hurricane on Wednesday.

  • Tropical Storm Sanvu
    -Tropical Storm (TS) 03w (Sanvu) is located approximately 45 nm west of Andersen Air Force Base, Guam.
    -By late Wednesday, it is forecast to weaken to just a tropical depression.
  • Tropical storm Alberto
    -Alberto has weaken to a tropical depression.
    -It is located 390 km ESE of Charleston South Carolina.
    -Alberto is expected to lose its tropical characteristics by Tuesday night or Wednesday.
    -Following National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Historical Hurricane Tracks database, Alberto tied an unnamed tropical storm that formed in the Caribbean in 1940 as the 11th-earliest Atlantic tropical storm on record.
