  • M 5.5 strong shallow earthquake in  New Britain Region, Papua New Guinea (@ 17 km depth) with epicenter located 21 km NNW of Rabaul. About 45,000 people will have felt strong shaking of MMI VI. People of Rabaul and Kokopo will have felt moderate shaking whereas light shaking will have experienced by the people of Namatanai.

  • M 4.4 moderate earthquake in Jalisco, Mexico (@ 83 km depth) with epicenter located 41 km SE of Colima. People of different parts of Michoacán, Jalisco and Colima region of Mexico will have felt weak shaking. Weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt within 100 km radius.

  • M 3.4 light very shallow earthquake in Southern California (@ 1 km depth) with epicenter located 17 km NNE from Indio. Weak shaking will have felt by the people of Bermuda Dunes, Indio, Thousand Palms, Indian Wells, Coachella and Palm Desert.

  • M 4.1 light shallow earthquake in Western Turkey (@ 9 km depth) with epicenter located 18 km SW Baklan. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Serinhisar, Baklan and Denizli.

    -Five dead with more than 11,000 people taking shelter in evacuation centers
    -Clean up going on in Nadi. Nadi town road will be closed until 5pm (local time) today

  • Tropical cyclone Daphne
    -It is now a tropical storm and is in sea water
    -Daphne is forecast to pass close to New Zealand
    -Cyclone Daphne caused severe damage in Fiji

Natural Disaster News
  • Forest fire in several parts of Udayapur, Nepal has burned hectares of land. Forest fire in Chappan community forest, Udayapur is uncontrollable since last week. Army personnel of Bhawani Barrack, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police are trying to control the blaze.
  • Strong wind along with lightning and thundering in several parts of Nepal turned Tuesday afternoon into dark. Rainfall continued till 6:00 pm in Capital Kathmandu. The visibility of Kathmandu was reduced to 3000 m (normally it is 10,000 metres)
