Recent Natural Disasters
  • Heavy Storms in Japan
    -Two killed and at least 160 injured. Both the fatalities were 80+
    -Several flights cancelled in Tokyo’s Haneda airport. Japan Airlines canceled 160 flights.
    -East Japan Railway Co. (JR East) suspended all train services on the Keiyo Line linking Tokyo with Chiba.
    -Heavy storm and rainfall was caused by an active low pressure system.
    -It is believed to be strongest non-typhoon storm in over 50 years.

  • Tornado in Texas, USA
    -Two tornadoes reported to touch down in areas south of Dallas
    -Several houses damaged
    -Power outage in 18,000 homes
    -Flights at Dallas-Fort Worth International cancelled
    Update
    -10 people injured in Dallas of which two of them reported to be in critical situation. Another three injured in Arlington city.
    -About 40 houses damaged.

  • M 4.0 moderate shallow earthquake in Oklahoma (@ 5 km depth) with epicenter located just 3 km SE Pittsburg. About 37,000 people will have felt light shaking of MMI IV.  People of Krebs, McAlester and Hartshorne will have experienced light shaking.   • M 5.0 moderate earthquake in Mindanao, Philippines (@ 79 km depth) with epicenter located 29 km ESE of Hinatuan. Weak shaking will have felt as far as Butuan.

  • M 4.9 moderate earthquake near the South Coast of Honshu, Japan (@ 89 km depth) with epicenter located 25 km N of Tokyo. Light to weak shaking will have felt across Matsubushi, Koshigaya and Saitama.

    M 4.7 moderate shallow earthquake in Northern Peru (@ 29 km depth) after six hours than earlier with epicenter located 141 km NW Tarapoto.
  • M 5.1 moderate very shallow earthquake in Offshore Valparaiso, Chile (@ 8 km depth) with epicenter located 58 km WSW of San Antonio. Weak shaking will have felt as far as Santiago city of Metropolitana region.

  • Vanuatu/Ambrym recent volcanic activity
    -Following Volcano Discovery, Ambrym volcano is again showing signs of activity with a strong thermal signal visible at Marum and Benbow craters.
    -Ambrym is a volcanic island in the archipelago of Vanuatu (formerly known as the New Hebrides) which is well known for its highly active volcanic activity that includes lava lake formation.

Flooding List
  • Flooding in Fiji
    -More than 11,000 people are taking shelter in 50 evacuation centres.

Tropical Cyclone List
  • Tropical cyclone Daphne
    -Daphne has now weaken to just a tropical depression. Now, no longer threat to Fiji.
