• Deadliest Tropical Storm Washi in Mindanao, Philippines (UPDATED 12/22/2011)
  -1010 died with 49 still missing and more than 45000 evacuated due to Storm Washi. More than 44,000 people lost their homes
  -An animation created by NASA (click to play) clearly shows how rainfall from Tropical Storm Washi spread over the Philippines on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 16 and 17, 2011. Detail update on this disaster can be found on "Deadliest Tropical Storm Washi In Mindanao, Philippines"

Recent Felt Earthquakes

• M 3.1 shallow earthquake in Poland (@ 2 km depth) near to populated area Zabrze (pop 192,177), Poland (Mikołów). It will be well felt around Laziska górne and Zabrze area of Poland.

• M 4.9 moderate deep earthquake in Tarapaca, Chile with epicenter close to Chiapa, Region de Tarapaca (@ 95.2 km depth). The populated area Iquique of Chile is 132 km far from epicenter where it will be faintly felt.

• M 3.4 shallow earthquake in Southern Alaska near to Valdez. Valdez is 22 km far from the epicenter. It will be well felt above the epicenter. People of Valdez and Tatitlek will feel it well.

• M 2.8 minor earthquake in Canary Islands, Spain Region with epicenter 87 km SW Valle gran rey (pop 4,983). The seismic activity around El Heirro was somewhat thought to be at end (regarding EL Hierro Volcano). It will be faintly felt.

• M 4.7 moderate Sea quake in Guatemala with epicenter close to Champerico, Departamento de Retalhuleu. It will be faintly felt in Coastal area.

Recent Volcanic Eruptions

• Series of earthquakes recorded at Bárðarbunga Volcano in Vatnajökull (Iceland)
  -Largest tremor of M 3.3. Others less than 3
  -Its too early to tell regarding the Volcanic eruption
  

Recent Flood Update

• Flash Flood in East Java, Indonesia
  -Kebonagung and Sumurcinde village of Indonesia are badly hit by flood
  -Limestone mining and deforestation in the area has weaken the percolating power of soil
  -Hundreds of hectares of paddy fields are destroyed
• Heavy Flooding in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (Africa)
  -13 people died so far
  -Several main road flooded, some bridges destroyed. Rainfall will continue for next two days more.
  -People are on TOP of their house roofs waiting for RESCUE TEAM
  

Other Disasters

• Cold wave in North India (UPDATED 12/22/2011)
  -Death toll has risen to 93
  -Worst hit is Uttar Pradesh where death toll is 61
