UPDATE 11/23/2011 
Magnitude 6.1 very strong earthquake is recorded in Honshu, Japan with epicenter located 33 km E Namie (pop 21,866), Japan and 58 km NE Iwaki (pop 357,309), Japan. It was the time when people were sleeping on their bed. People as far as capital Tokyo, wake up after this quake. 49,000 people have experienced a strong shaking of MMI VI. People of Namie have felt a strong jolt. The epicenter is in the Sea water which reduces its shaking effect to some extent. It will be even felt in Capital Tokyo.

Being some 247 km's distance form the epicenter, this seemed like a fairly powerful earthquake but it never felt threatening ... pretty good sustained shaking, however, and strong enough to wake me up ... trust and hope there was no harm inflicted on anyone closer to the quake's epicenter, greetings from the 22nd floor of the HIlton Hotel in Shinjuku, Tokyo.

 Today moderate earthquakes are recorded in that area. One with magnitude 4.7 and other 4.9. 
M 4.9 was well felt by the people as it was on land at a shallow depth of 11.8 km.
Both at a difference of half an hour. First was at 09:48 UTC. Second was in Western Japan which was well felt in Iwakuni city of Yamaguchi region.

Still minor aftershocks are recorded in this area. Earthquake in this area(Japan) is common, so people are again engaged in their daily work.

JMA has revised its data to M 5.3 than earlier reported M 5.5. Believed to be an aftershocks of earlier M 9.0 earthquake.  
NO DAMAGE REPORTED.

Nuclear plant operator Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO) said that nuclear plant is safe.
Remember a 9.0 earthquake on march 11 triggered Tsunami which killed 20,000 people.

M  2.4 minor @ 2.4 km depth in Miyazaki-ken Nambu-yamazoi region (Max. JMI intensity 1)

M 3.1 @ 10 km depth in Ibaraki-ken Hokubu region (Max. JMI intensity 1)

we don't know why local medias are not following this earthquake. we are having much difficulty to get actual report from the epicenter area. May be Japan is prone to these type of regular earthquakes.Hope we will update soon.

For Ibaraki region, the intensity is varied from I to V. JMA even gives data of 5+ JMI intensity which denotes strong shaking in Ibaraki region.

 Felt as far as capital Tokyo. People of Hitachi (pop 186,307) experienced strong jolt. Hitachi is 38 km NW of epicenter.

M 5.5 at 10 km depth
If we follow this intensity, it is strongest one to cause serious tremor around epicenter area.

 

Today November 20, 2011 a strong earthquake of magnitude 5.2 stuck East Coast of Honshu Japan. The epicenter of the earthquake is located just below Daigo(22,310), Japan.UTC 1:23 (local time Sunday, November 20, 2011 at 10:23:43 AM @ epicenter)

Though earthquake is common in this area. It is the strongest earthquake to hit in recent days. Most of the earthquakes are recorded in Sea water.
